About

I am a health economics and outcomes researcher with a focus in improving shared decision making and preference-based treatment decisions by using Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in the clinical setting to best preserve health care resource utilization for society.  My main clinical area of interest is to use PROMs to better align patients and orthopaedic surgeons in preference-based orthopaedic surgical and post-operative treatment decisions.  I bring experience as an outcomes researcher and implementer of PROMs orthopaedic clinical practices.

My primary research goal is to provide evidence-based data and tools for the interpretation and use of PROMs in the clinical setting for patient-centered coordinated care and clinical decision-making. Incorporating objective and subjective meaningful PROMs data presented in a useful way, PROMs can improve the quality of clinical care. I focus on developing new methods and tools to improve the clinical uptake of PROM data by using health services research methods, decision-making science, patient-centered design and data visualization principles and practices, and future goals included dyad engagement between surgeon-patient, patient-caregiver, surgeon-caregiver/surrogate (especially in orthopaedic trauma).  My experience of clinical engagement is focused in two ways: 1) engaging orthopaedic surgeons and their patients in the use of PROMs in the clinical encounter; and 2)  knowledge of quality of life, health states, and preference-based measurement in musculoskeletal care.
